My computers hardrive space dissapears even when I haven’t downloaded anything?

I’ve been noticing this for a while, my computers hardrive looses 10gigs at a time. An example is when I downloaded a torrent that was only 2 gigs. I had 754 gigs available on my hardrive. Now i have 740. Half a month ago i had 850 gigs of space. Whats going on? is there something hiden in my computer?
